Hungary

The Headquarters for Berwin & Berwin in Hungary are based in Budapest. The Berwin team moved into a modern building in the capital in May 2005 – from here runs the finance department, technical, IT, production planning, purchasing and logistics.

There is a raw materials and finished goods warehouse alongside a central cutting room, which were all installed brand new on Berwin’s arrival at the building.

A major asset to the Hungarian operation is the ‘fast forward’ service. This offers customers a speedy 28 day production and delivery lead time. The factories use European trims and cloth with a highly workforce.

There are three factories in Hungary Varpalota – In the South of the coutry, makes men’s trousers with a capacity of 6,500 a week. Nyriegyhaza – In the North East of the country, this factory makes 4000 sleeved garments a week. Vasarosnameny – To the North East of Nyriegyhaza.(15 km from the Ukaranian border) produces 5,000 sleeved garments a week and 3500 mens trousers.

China

The new factory, a joint venture with Nanshan, opened in September 2006 as a 19,000 square metre purpose built production unit in Longkou City, one hours drive from Yantai.

As the most modern factory in China, all machinery is state-of-the-art and uses the latest technology.

The factory is designed to make top quality men’s jackets, trousers, vests and coats.

Line 1 – Here bulk lines are produced for all European customers. In a regular 6-day week, the line turns out 1400 sleeved garments and 1600 trousers a day.

Line 2 – This is a production line for high specification garments. Half canvass, lashed facings, hand finished pockets are among the details that can be achieved here. This is where our premium customers will be looked after with specialist and highly skilled labour working to produce the most complex specifications. It produces on average 500 sleeved garments per day.

Line 3 – Due to be built during 2008, this is a copy of line 2. It can produce a further 300 suits a day, or 1800 in a week at full capacity, depending on product mix.

After the garment has been constructed, the press line goes to work, with state of the art, high value pressing equipment. This ultra modern line can press up to 2000 suits a day.

The Purchasing, Technical and Logistics team work with members of the UK contingent who are based in China. All are working closely with the Head office in England.

The Chinese factory has been built and managed to, and for, supply to the European market.
